Who are the European Youth Editors?
During the Belgian Presidency we have asked four enthusiastic young people to voice their opinions about Europe. This website will be their platform to do so. They will be free to write whatever they want, without intervenience or political agenda. Because we think it is important for young people to share their stories!
European Youth Editors in action
An introduction of themselves
We are four incredibly enthusiastic and engaged young people eager to bring the complex concept of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union closer to youth. All of us have in common a special passion for writing, journalism, graphic design and Europe. We will voice our opinions, write articles, take photos etc.
What does this Presidency mean? What will happen between January and July? We are here to inform you about all the events that are important for youth and answer all your pressing questions!
Belgium’s presidency makes Belgium responsible for driving forward the Council’s work. To make things even more exciting, JINT is responsible for hosting five events during the six-month presidency, all focusing on the theme of ‘Youth’. We will report on these events, together with their goals, and aim to provide you with a comprehensive grasp of what is happening.
We believe that providing young people with an understanding of these matters is the first step in empowering them to shape their future. The decisions made at these events directly impact your future, so it is time to give voice to young people and listen to what they have to say!
Not only do we want to teach you more about this Presidency, but we are also looking for ways to connect youth to Europe and inform you of the important role that Europe plays in our society. We’re here to make sure you don’t miss a single thing during this presidency so that you can impress your friends with your knowledge of the Council’s discussions 😉
We are committed to informing and engaging you in various ways. From social media posts to interviews with young people and politicians, to reporting on major events regarding the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, we have a lot in store for you!
Cassandra
Passionate about Europe, its politics and history, and especially its relations with the rest of the world, Cassandra (24) eagerly joins the team of equally passionate EU Youth Editors. She has an academic background in linguistics, journalism and Middle East studies and has experience working as a journalist, researcher, editor and communicator for various organisations and media in Belgium and abroad. Although her focus has previously gravitated mostly toward the Middle East, she aspires to become more engaged in writing, talking and reporting about Europe, its youth and their future.
Marthe
Marthe’s (19) biggest passions are graphic design and Europe. There is no better way to combine these two than by being part of EU Youth Editors. Being a European Studies student, she is diving deeper into the functioning and culture of Europe every day. As the External Relations Coordinator of the European Youth Parliament Belgium, she is not afraid to write texts, make social media posts, and show youth engagement to the outside world.
Aisha
Aisha is a high school student who is dedicated to her studies in mathematics and science. With her natural curiosity and her hunger for knowledge, she wishes to learn more and help young people understand EU affairs. She strongly believes in actively involving youth in matters that concern them. Ensuring that you are informed about discussions that affect you and other young people is a must. Her goal is to represent her peers while keeping them updated on these events that significantly impact them. After all, the youth perspective is essential for all policymakers. Through her passion for writing, her goal is to bring you along on this incredible journey!
Hannah
Hannah (17), a European Studies student at KU Leuven, has had a long-standing interest in current events and politics. The COVID-19 pandemic heightened her curiosity about the world and the EU, motivating her to engage in political activities, including joining a climate movement and participating in social and youth organizations.
While her future remains uncertain, Hannah is committed to continuous learning and has found a passion for journalism. Despite being new to the field, she eagerly joined the EU youth editors, reflecting her dedication to staying informed and contributing to the ever-evolving world of current events.
